Swedish Christmas market
A Swedish Christmas market is synonymous with enjoying live music, drinking chocolate, free workshops and some lovely shopping at over sixty specialists.
Sweden is the country of endless forests, innumerable lakes, midsummer light and long winter evenings. During the dark winter season, much beautiful handiwork is produced, and Scandinavia is known for its magnificent designs in textile, wood, glass, ironwork, etc. The Christmas market features wonderful products, interior design items, Swedish delicacies and plenty of handiwork articles.
Various handicrafts will be demonstrated and there will be woodcarving workshops, in addition to a Swedish language trial lesson and lectures.
A ‘birthday’ party will be held for the children to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Pippi Longstocking with all kinds of fun activities, and children can have their picture taken as Pippi or a pirate.
There will be extensive Swedish catering with Swedish delicacies to go with coffee and delicious lunch dishes. And second-hand Swedish items will be available in the ‘loppis’ corner. Alternatively, enjoy a film, some music, a language lesson or a lecture.
The event will be enriched with Swedish Christmas and Lucia songs, lights and fire.
There will be salmon available, and in addition straw braiding demonstrations, woodworking, wicker weaving and wool-dying using mushrooms will be held.
There will also be plenty of activities in the catacombs of the Suikerfabriek factory, such as a ceramics and felt exhibition and stands, Lego structures and more.
